Nintendo 64 (N64 for short) was released in 1997 in North America. It was originally priced $199 when first released! Not to long after being released, a few programmers can together and built a nintendo 64 emulator. Then people started to dump there nintendo 64 games on to your computer creating n64 roms and uploading them, making them freely available to download and play on home computers. Better then paying $199, right? Nintendo 64 emulators are very bugging when first released. It probably took a year or more until a stable n64 emulator was released. Unlike Super Nintendo and NES, these emulators were much harder to create. Now in 2008, you can play just about any n64 rom without a problem. They become popular a few years back because of games like Super Mario 64, Super Smash Brothers, Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask. N64 ROMs can be downloaded at many sites. One I personally download from it CoolRom.com. I've been downloading from this website for years now and haven't had any problems with there roms or download speeds. Nintendo 64 rom files are larger in file size compared to nes and super nintendo so download speeds...
